The highly anticipated The Super Stage By K-pop in Manila, which was supposed to feature four female K-pop acts, is no longer happening next month.
This, after organizer OctoArts announced the cancellation of the event on Tuesday, two weeks before its planned schedule on August 11 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Ticket buyers will get a refund, it added.
“All purchased tickets will receive full refund based on the ticketing policy,” the organizer tweeted.
OctoArts Entertainment did not disclose the reason for the show’s sudden cancellation, but a Naver article said it was called off due to the organizer’s alleged “lack of capacity.”
The much-awaited concert was supposed to highlight K-pop star Sandara Park and girl groups MAMAMOO+ (composed of Solar and Moonbyul), Kep1er and Lapillus.
Disappointed
The announcement disappointed some Filipino K-pop fans, particularly those who had prepared for the show.
One netizen said that she already made a hotel reservation and booked a flight ticket just so she and her mom could watch Park perform live. She demanded an explanation from the organizer.
Another netizen was confused as to why the show was abruptly canceled when it was promoted frequently by the organizer.
Meanwhile, some fans were having trouble accessing the website link for the refund.
Refund process
Refunds will be processed at point of purchase to the original method used for purchase, according to OctoArts Entertainment.
For those who purchased tickets in cash or debit or credit cards at SM Malls’ Metro Manila branches, OctoArts Entertainment advised them to register at SM Tickets’ website and choose the branch where they bought their tickets, as well as their preferred date for the refund. Ticket Holders must bring with them their physical tickets.
No refund will be given if they don’t have a refund schedule.
On the other hand, fans who bought tickets in provincial branches may send an email to [email protected] with the subject line, “Refund Request: The Super Stage by KPOP in Manila.” SM Tickets will then give them instructions and requirements for the refund.
The organizers reminded ticket buyers that card reversals may take up to 60 days.
