Niall’s fans, which he calls Lovers, seemed to have fallen in love with his heavenly vocals and romantic lyrics in Heaven as the song has reached over 10 million streams on the digital music streaming platform Spotify less than a week after its release.

In an Instagram story, the Irish singer-songwriter shared this milestone and thanked his fans for showing their love for his new record.

“[I] can’t believe we’ve hit 10 million streams on Spotify already! Thank you, lovers,” Niall wrote.

Heaven also led Spotify’s list of debut songs all over the world, blocking singers NF, Lana Del Ray, and beabadoobee off the number one spot.

He also performed his new single during one episode of American talk show The Late Night Show With James Corden.

Niall’s love letter to fans

Before the release of his new single, Niall penned a heartwarming letter to his fans to thank them for waiting for him patiently despite the many years it took him to release a new album.

“Firstly, thank you so much for being patient with me,” the Heartbreak Weather singer said. “I’ve since spent the last 18 months or so working on the next record.”

With the new album released on June 9, Niall said the tracks included in this new record are for his Lovers.

“These songs are for you as much as they are for me so go and run with them,” said Niall.

They also spent plenty of time in Los Angeles making the album.

Anxiety over his long absence

He also expressed his anxiety about being absent from the music scene for a long time but still hopes that his listeners will enjoy these new songs.

“[I] can’t say I’m not a little nervous but hopefully you’ll still like this version of me when you listen to the new record,” he said in his love letter.

“There’s something really scary about being away for so long and coming back with new music but I couldn’t be more thankful for all you amazing people have stood by and supported me all of these years,” Niall added.
