by Joanna Deala

How many times have you encountered announcements about the release of a certain K-pop song?

With back-to-back song releases by several K-pop idols, fans have probably lost count of how many singles were dropped this August. Perhaps you have been planning to update your K-pop playlist but don’t know where to start.

If you still feel lost, republicasia curated a list that will serve as your guide to these newly-released songs:

Hyoyeon’s Picture

A year after dropping her first mini-album, Girls’ Generation member Hyoyeon has made a comeback with her new song Picture.

SM Town released the music video for Picture on August 22, which focused on Hyoyeon’s dancing skills.

Some netizens have likened the song’s sexy choreography and hot summer vibe to Shakira’s.

Aside from being a Girls’ Generation member, Hyoyeon is also part of SM Entertainment’s seven-member female supergroup Got the Beat.

SEVENTEEN’s Ima- Even if the World Ends Tomorrow

SEVENTEEN comforted their fans, collectively known as CARATs, with their new Japanese track Ima- Even if the World Ends Tomorrow, which talks about living in the moment and not having any regret even if the world ends.

SEVENTEEN’s vocal team leader and producer, Woozi, composed the song with Bumzu and Hwang Hyun.

Ima- Even if the World Ends Tomorrow came ahead of the group’s comeback in October.

V’s Rainy Day and Love Me Again

South Korean singer V of BTS is set to release his debut solo album Layover on September 8.

Prior to this, V gifted ARMYs with pre-releases of his two songs from the album Rainy Days and Love Me Again. The two new singles were written with a mix of English and Korean lyrics.

In Rainy Days, V thinks of someone he wants to be with during rainy days. Meanwhile, the idol expresses his love for a person whom he hopes will come back to him in Love Me Again.

On Monday, V released a trailer for his forthcoming single Blue that showed the singer ringing the doorbell twice before banging the door.

NCT’s Golden Age

SM’s boy group NCT just released the title track of their upcoming album, Golden Age-The 4th Album.

The single Golden Age featured all 20 members of the group, coming from its subunits NCT 127, NCT Dream, and Way V.

Golden Age is the group’s unique take on Beethoven’s Piano Sonata No. 8, “Pathétique” 2nd Movement, according to Soompi. The lyrics envision a bright future for the group.

The album will be released on August 28. The NCT members have also been preparing for their concert, NCT NATION: To The World, in South Korea on August 26.

Jihyo’s Killing Me Good

TWICE’s leader and main vocalists took her fans, known as ONCEs, through the downfall of her romantic relationship, from her sweet and happy moments with her partner to their breakup.

Killing Me Good is the title track of her first solo mini-album Zone on August 18.

The seven-track album also contains Talkin’ About It, Closer, Wishing On You, Don’t Wanna Go Back, Room, and Nightmare.

MAMAMOO+’s dangdang

K-pop idols Moonbyul and Solar, collectively known as Mamamoo+, have just released their new extended play titled Two Rabbits.

The album has five songs, including dangdang. The title track made listeners feel what it’s like to be happily in love.

Other tracks in Zone are Intro: Two Rabbits, I Like This, Starry Sea, and Save Me.

The duo was supposed to visit the country for The Super Stage By K-pop, but the show was cancelled.

The Boyz’s Lip Gloss

The Boyz went on a summer trip in their new song Lip Gloss, released on August 7.

The music video, which now has over 20 million views, showed the 11 members competing for the attention of a girl in a beach resort, but their feelings failed to reach the girl as she had another love interest.

The music video was filmed in Siargao.

Lip Gloss is the title track of their new EP Phantasy Pt. 1: Christmas in August. Tracks Passion Fruit, Lighthouse, Fantasize, Fire Eyes, and Fairy Tale are also part of the album.

Somi’s Fast Forward

Canadian-Dutch-Korean singer-songwriter Jeon Somi expresses her desire to find her true love in her new song Fast Forward.

In its lyrics, Jeon wants to skip the challenges of dating, like going through heartbreaks, and just fast forward to the time when she’ll finally meet the one.

Released on August 7, Fast Forward is the title track of her new EP Game Plan. It also includes the songs Gold Gold Gold, Fxxked Up, Pisces, and The Way.

Game Plan is Jeon’s first album release in two years, following XOXO.

iKON’s Panorama

iKON members also took iKONICs through the ups and downs of their relationships in their new single Panorama.

The music video, released on August 23, showed how the six members went from having beautiful beginnings with their partners to separating from them.

It ended with June crumpling a piece of paper on his hand and his dialogue, “When the two of us become one, memories formed will always remain and make me smile. Like a panorama.”

Panorama comes three months after the release of iKON’s third studio album, Take Off.
