THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Saturday announced that the number coding scheme for the vehicular volume reduction in Metro Manila will be suspended on Monday, June 17, 2024.

This is in observance of Eid’l Adha or the Feast of Sacrifice.

According to their Facebook advisory, they said that the enforcement of the coding scheme would be suspended after Monday has been declared as a holiday for the Eid’l Adha.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. had earlier declared June 17 as a regular holiday.

The declaration was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by authority of the President.

It stated under Proclamation 579 as Eid’l Adha being one of the two greatest feasts of Islam thus a need for a declaration of work suspension.

The declaration of the regular holiday was made after the recommendation of the National Commission on Filipinos, based on the 1445 Hijrah Islamic Lunar Calendar.

Under the number coding scheme, all vehicles are barred from using major thoroughfares of Metro Manila from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and  5 p.m. to 8 p.m., depending on the last digit of their license plates.
