Makati shortens class hours

by Carl Santos

CLASSES in Makati City schools have been shortened amid the dry season.

Classes will run from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. for the morning shift and from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the evening shift, according to an advisory from the Makati City government.

The new schedules took effect on April 8.

The local government also advised students to take protective measures against extreme heat, such as dressing comfortably and drinking plenty of water.

In Manila City, the Department of Education ordered public schools to conduct classes from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. from April 11 to May 28.

DepEd Manila City cited the ”onset of [the] summer season, where [a] dangerous level of heat index is expected.”
