Love lessons from Mimiyuuuh

by Izel Abanilla

Gen Z comedian Mimiyuuuh has recently taken the spotlight for her statement on not dating someone who is not financially capable. Her opinion has drawn mixed reactions online, prompting her to clarify what she really meant by her statement. Looking back, Mimiyuuh provides some insightful advice on relationships and love.

Let’s dive into some of the most important love lessons from Mimiyuuuh.

  1. “Never date someone na walang pera

This has to be at the top of the list.

It all started with a video by Cosmopolitan Philippines in which she was asked to give advice on problems in life and love.

She says that money is important in a relationship. She cited as an example a former flame who owed her a huge sum of money but only gave her countless excuses whenever she asked for it back.

In a separate Facebook video, she went on to clarify that she did not mean to date rich people but to go with someone who has the drive to succeed in life.

“Mag-date kayo ng someone na may drive, mag-date kayo ng someone na kayang dalhin ‘yung sarili, ‘yung hindi mangungutang at aasa sa inyo,” she said.

  1. Don’t go for the bare minimum

Not too long ago, Mimiyuuuh went viral after buying her first luxury car.

Documenting her milestone in a vlog, she also gave short and sweet advice on raising one’s standards in love and never accepting anything less.

“Alam niyo guys, na-realize ko. ‘Di ba parang nangangarap tayo dati na ah, gusto ko ng boyfriend na may kotse? Eh ‘te, kaya mo naman bumili ng kotse eh, kaya mo rin magdrive, so parang ha? Taasan niyo naman ‘yung standards niyo,” she said in her vlog.

  1. Never ignore red flags

In one of her vlogs in 2022, Mimiyuuuh shared some real talk with her followers about being “dumped” by someone she considered her first heartbreak.

She met her then-boyfriend through a dating app and went out a few times before deciding to go into a long-distance relationship since the guy went abroad for school.

According to Mimiyuuuh, there were times she felt they were about to call it quits, but his sweet gestures would only melt her every time. However, there was one instance where her boyfriend raised a major red flag.

Her boyfriend did not prepare anything special for her birthday, save for a simple message.

After expressing her disappointment, she received flowers the day after.

Shortly after, while on a trip to Indonesia, she got a text message from her boyfriend saying she was being dumped.

“Always remember na time heals everything. Yeah, malungkot ka ngayon, pero darating din ‘yung panahon na tatawanan mo na lang ‘tong mga ganitong experience,” she said in her vlog.
