by Joshua Gerona

Filipino singer-songwriter and producer Juan Karlos has added another feather to his cap with the song ‘ERE’ off his latest album Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1

Music charts platform Chart Data announced yesterday, October 10, that ‘ERE’ became the first Filipino song in history to enter the Top 100 on the Spotify Global Chart following the impressive climb up 90 spots at #87 with 1.4 million streams worldwide.

The song recently set a new record for becoming the first Filipino track to debut on the same global chart after landing at #177 with 1.2 million streams on Sunday.

‘ERE’ also broke its own all-time single-day stream record for any track on Spotify Charts Philippines with 1.3 million streams, surpassing Taylor Swift’s Mine (Taylor’s Version).

Last October 6, ‘ERE’ topped the Philippine charts simultaneously on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. It has become the first OPM song to receive more than 1 million streams in a single day as well as on multiple days.

The song first gained massive popularity in TikTok after Filipinos used it as a background song on videos depicting various situations where people could not help but feel frustrated and hurt.

‘ERE’ is part of Juan Karlos’ heart-wrenching and emotional album, Sad Songs and Bulls**t Part 1, released on September 23, nearly three years since his last album launch.

The album consists of nine original tracks, including “Sad Song & Bulls**t,” “may halaga pa ba ako sayo??,” “Manhid,” “Paruparo,” “Gabi” with Zild Benitez, “Time Machine,” “Lumisan,” and “Tapusin Na Natin To” featuring Paolo Benjamin of Ben&Ben.

Juan Karlos said his latest studio album is a commentary and reflection on love and loss after coming from the end of a long-term relationship.

The second part of the album is expected to come out early next year.
