by Deanna Macaranas

SOCIAL Media influencer Hayley Kalil received backlash on her 2024 Met Gala appearance.

@localwinemum

This influencer was at the Met Gala, dressed up like a capitol member while using a sound that is famously associated with rich (white) people not caring about any issues in the world and is being criticized for it. The behavior is especially horrible when you look at what else happened at the night of the Met Gala #fyp #foryou #fy

Met Gala is something that happens once a year and as for this years fundraiser event–TikToker Hayley Kalil (whose widely known as @HayleyyBayley on her platform) was invited to take part on the annual event.

Before attending the event, the influencer shared a video of her showing off her floral gown and headpiece designed by Marc Bower while having the track of Sofia Coppola’s Marie Antoinette playing in the background.

Hayley Kahlil was later seen quoting the late queen’s phrase, “Let them eat cake,’ which later made the a lot of netizens to raise their eyebrows.

Marie Antoinette’s phrase was reputable to be “out of touch” as it imitate the economic hardship or the working class before the Frecnh Revolution.

Meanwhile others are quick to point out how her gown and headpiece reminds them of the film series’ Hunger Games.

Despite the backlash that the influencers received, Hayler Kalil still hasn’t spoke about the issue.
