GMA Sparkle welcomes Nancy McDonie

GMA Sparkle welcomes Korean singer-actress Nancy McDonie who is notably known as a former member of the South Korean girl group ‘Momoland.’   

In an Instagram post, Sparkle made an announcement welcoming the former Momoland member.  “Sparkle proudly welcomes its new international star, Nancy McDonie, to its diverse and stellar roster of talents.” Sparkle wrote on their Instagram post. 

Before officially announcing Nancy McDonie joining the Sparkle artists–Sparkle first teased fans in Instagram with a pink silhouette poster of a K-pop idol with a voice message saying “Annyeong Sparkle, see you soon!” 

“Sparkle is about to get a whole light brighter with this K-pop idol joining its roster of powerhouse and diverse talents.” The Instagram caption reads. 

Nancy McDonie isn’t the first South Korean idol to join Sparkle as in November of 2022, K-pop star and Lapillus member Chanty Videla was welcomed to Sparkle. 

Upon the announcement of Nancy McDonie on Sparkle’s Instagram post, the topic became the town in social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter.) There, a lot of netizens congratulated and expressed their excitement towards the announcement. 

One X user expressed enthusiasm as she get to see her idol again. 

A fan commented on how the jewel will sparkle. 

Nancy McDonie, whose real name is Nancy Jewel McDonie first debuted with the South Korean girl group Momoland in 2016. The group became loved by many people, with the group earning 2.5 million followers on Instagram. 

In 2018, their song “BBOOM BBOOM” from their album GREAT! became one of the well-known hits by the group with a total of over 205 million streams on Spotify alone. 

After six years, the group disbanded in February 2018. 

All six members later took to Instagram to post identical letters—officially announcing their disbandment.

In November 2023, Nancy visited the Philippines for a one-night concert with fellow Korean actor Lee Seung Gi. This is during the first-anniversary celebration of the Korean Fried Chicken Restaurant at the Bonifacio Global City.
