Gift ideas for pansexual people

by Jericho Zafra

ARE you still confused about what to give to your partner or friend for Valentine’s Day?

While most  couples already have an idea what to give to their better half, some members of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual (LGBTQIA+) community may be having a hard time thinking of a perfect gift for their partner.

Why? Because under the gender spectrum, there are various gender identity and expressions that affect their interests, such as their fashion choices.

This may be why, if you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, you may be praying to all the angels and saints to give you guidance on what to give to your partner, especially if they are pansexual.

What is a pansexual?

Pansexuality is the state of being sexually, romantically, or emotionally attracted to other people regardless of the sex or gender identity of a certain individual.

People who identify as pansexual may describe themselves as gender-blind to emphasize the fact that gender and sex are not factors that influence their romantic or sexual attraction to other people.

How to spot a pansexual?

There are no physical signs to determine if someone is pansexual. This is also the same for any sexual or romantic orientation unless someone asks them.

But we have some tips for you. This Valentine’s Day, you can show your appreciation to your pansexual friends or partners with these gift ideas:

Pansexual flag

Of course, if you already know your friend or partner is pansexual and you want to remind them that they matter to society, a pansexual flag is one good gift to buy for them.

The pansexual flag sports the colors pink, yellow, and cyan. This flag was established as a symbol for the pansexual community to boost its visibility and recognition, and to differentiate itself from the bisexual community. One of the common struggles faced by pansexual people is not being honored as pansexuals because people think they are just bisexuals.

The labels are not interchangeable due to the fact that persons who identify as bisexual may not feel attracted to particular genders, unlike pansexuals.

A pansexual flag means so much to them, so raise it for them.

Pansexual shirt

The statement says it all. Let them wear who they are with this pansexual shirt summarizing their sexual orientation.

A shirt with this statement not only saves them from questions, they will also be able to wear their pride on their sleeve.

Community pins/badges

In the absence of statement shirts proudly expressing their pansexuality, a community badge is a huge gift for pansexuals.

Allow them to ensure their visibility in society regardless of what they wear through a pansexuality badge.

Pansexual Hat/Beanie

Wearing a hat has many functions. A pansexual could be a nurse, doctor, lawyer, writer, engineer, architect, teacher, and manager, among others. Wearing a hat with the colors of the pansexual flag can let them share their identity while playing their important role in the world.

Letters

No gift or favor can replace the classic yet thoughtful love letter this valentine’s day. A supportive letter, unlike any gift, is a timeless present that can allow pansexuals to feel included, loved, and cared for. For a community that has been neglected and questioned about their right to love freely, words of acceptance and encouragement are a huge form of affection.

Nothing beats the traditional way of expressing your love to someone.

If these gifts are not on your list, let the presents you are planning to give to your pansexual friend or partner make them visible and included. That matters to them, and to everyone, too.
