Gen Z bettor wins P42.9-M Mega Lotto jackpot

by Carl Santos

A 24-YEAR-OLD woman from Pasig City became an instant multi-millionaire after hitting the jackpot of Mega Lotto 6/45 worth P42,900,615.40 on July 17.

The Gen Z bettor recently claimed her prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

The woman’s interest in the lottery began when she was 20 years old, which was sparked by her mother’s request to place bets on lotto games.

Using the dates of birth and ages of family members, she was able to match the winning combination: 31-13-10-37-34-18.

“Tuwang tuwa si mama kasi natupad ko ang pangarap niyang jackpot,” she said in an article posted by the PCSO on Facebook.

She plans to save the money before deciding how best to use it.

“Ang tanging sigurado po ay magiging savings po muna ito. Napakabata ko pa po at madami pa akong kakaharapin. Mas maigi na pag-isipang mabuti para hindi po ako magsisi bandang huli,” she said.

Lottery winners must claim their winnings one year from the draw date. If not, this will be deposited into the PCSO Charity Fund pursuant to Republic Act 1169.

Prizes exceeding P10,000 are subject to a final tax of 20% in compliance with the TRAIN Law.
