First look of Mikhail Red’s ‘Nokturno’ revealed

by RepublicAsia

ARE you ready for another blockbuster movie from filmmaker Mikhail Red?

Following the success of psychological-horror film Deleter, Red teased fans with the first look of his forthcoming horror movie Nokturno.

The director posted an eerie group portrait of cast members Nadine Lustre, Eula Valdez, Bea Binene, and Justin James Quilantang.

“NOKTURNO soon,” the director wrote in the caption.

Viva Films also posted the same photo on its Facebook page.

“You have no idea what’s coming,” it said.

In Nokturno, Lustre will play the role of a woman who will solve a supernatural ancient curse that plagues a family.

This will be the second time that Red and Lustre will collaborate for a movie. Their first project together was Deleter, which was among the official entries to the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The psychological-horror film dominated the MMFF’s Gabi ng Parangal by taking home eight awards, including the coveted Best Picture.

The forthcoming film will be produced by Evolve Studios and Viva Films. It will be written by Rae Red, who is behind the award-winning film Birdshot.

Nokturno’s production will kick off at the end of the year, the 31-year-old director said.

Fans’ excitement

The teaser photo, which gave off a mysterious aura, provoked the excitement and curiosity of fans.

Netizens shared their support for the movie and the cast members in the comment section of Viva Film’s post.

Reds’ previous works

Red also helmed the supernatural film Eerie in 2018, thriller film Dead Kids in 2019, and zombie-thriller film Block Z in 2020.

The award-winning director has received several recognitions both locally and internationally. These include the Best New Director award at the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF) in 2014 for his feature film Rekorder and the Best Asian Future Film at the Tokyo International Film Festival in 2016 for Birdshot.
