Fans excited to see a different Kathryn Bernardo, Dolly de Leon in ‘A Very Good Girl’

by Izel Abanilla

WHAT are these “good girls” up to?

Since the release of the trailer for the much-awaited movie A Very Good Girl headlined by Kapamilya star Kathryn Bernardo and internationally-acclaimed actress Dolly de Leon, netizens have not only been praising what they’ve seen of their performance, but have also been intrigued by the movie’s seemingly unique storyline.

A Very Good Girl  is about two self-made women and how they navigate life.

Released last Friday, August 4, the trailer did not reveal much about the movie’s plot. Instead it gave a sneak peak into the characters’ interaction.

Philo (Bernardo) taps Molly (De Leon) to pretend to be her mother, as the latter reminds her of her real mom.

From the glimpses provided in the trailer, the two characters appear to be alpha women. In one scene, they walk confidently, side by side, in their power outfits.

In another scene, Philo is accusing somebody of murder.

The trailer, which teases the acting showdown between the two award-winning actresses, got overwhelming praises from the online community.

The comments section of the trailer was peppered with positive observations from netizens.

One said movies like A Very Good Girl prove that the combination of real talent and a good project can make an actor stand out even without a love team partner.

Another said Bernardo, despite never running out of projects, always has something new to offer her fans.

Others liked how the trailer did not give away so much of the plot, and offered just enough to spark interest in the movie.

Many netizens predict that the movie will be another box-office record breaker. As of writing, the trailer has gained over 456,000 views on YouTube.

Directed by Petersen Vargas, the movie will be the first time that the primetime queen and the Golden Globes nominee will work on a project together.

It is based on the screenplay of Marionne Dominique Mancol, Daniel Saniana, and Jumbo Albano. The production wrapped up filming last July.

Also part of the cast are Angel Aquino, Donna Cariaga, Chie Filomeno, Gillian Vicencio, Jake Ejercito, Althea Ruedas, Kaori Oinuma, Nathania Guerrero, Nour Hooshmand, and Ana Abad Santos.

A Very Good Girl will have its exclusive theater debut on September 27, 2023.
