Fans clamoring for Kathryn x Nadine collab

by Joanna Deala

ARE fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Nadine Lustre a step closer to seeing the two sought-after actresses in one project?

Viva Films sparked excitement among netizens after it noticed a fan-edit video showing spliced clips of Bernardo and Lustre embroiled in an argument, as shared by netizen @ayelmari.

The spliced scenes were from Bernardo’s romance film “Barcelona: A Love Untold,” produced by Star Cinema in 2016; and Lustre’s “Never Not Love You,” produced by Viva Films in 2018.

A text in the video read, “The collab that we deserve,” along with hashtags #nathryn and #fanedit.

Viva Films’ official TikTok account commented on the post: “G? @absstarcinema.”

Viva Films’ comment has earned over 100 replies from netizens, who are clamoring for the two actresses to work together on a project.

While there’s no confirmation yet on the Bernardo x Lustre collab, several fans are hoping to see the iconic stars in a Girls’ Love film or series.

Prior to the fan-edit video, some fans were already rooting for a collaboration between Bernardo and Lustre, after they posed for a photo with celebrity dermatologist Aivee Aguilar Teo at a party.

Teo shared the image on Instagram and said, “My fave moments with these two Aivee girls.” Several netizens have also dubbed the tandem “KathDine.”

Both stars have new projects. Bernardo starred with British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) and Golden Globes nominee Dolly de Leon in the dark comedy, “A Very Good Girl.” Meanwhile, Lustre will be joined by Eula Valdez, Bea Binene and J.J Quilantang in the forthcoming movie “Nokturno.”

“A Very Good Girl” premiered in Hollywood on October 4, with Bernardo, de Leon, RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Manila Luzon, Filipino-American influencer Bretman Rock, and other celebrities in attendance.

ABS-CBN executives, such as its president and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak and Chief Operating Officer for Broadcast Cory Vidanes, also joined the premiere.

The film was released in Philippine cinemas on September 27.

Directed by Petersen Vargas, “A Very Good Girl” will be screened in the U.S starting today, October 6. It will also be released in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Guam, Saipan, Middle East, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Cambodia and Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the teaser for “Nokturno” was unveiled on September 29 by post-production house Promovi Studios on YouTube. The film is directed by Mikhail Red.

There is no final date yet for the horror film’s premiere, but it’s expected to be released in late 2023 or in early 2024.
