Fans call to boycott SM Entertainment, RIIZE’s upcoming comeback

by RepublicAsia

BRIIZE, fans of K-pop boy group RIIZE, took to X (formerly Twitter) to show their dissatisfaction for South Korean entertainment agency SM Entertainment’s treatment towards the fifth generation boy group. It all started with a simple hashtag of “#BoycottSM” which later turned into “#BoycottRIIZE” and “#RIIZEIs7.”

The reason for the boycott? It is because the boy group was recently spotted in Portugal where they were believed to be shooting their next music video for their upcoming spring comeback.

RIIZE is composed of seven members: Wonbin, Seunghan, Sohee, Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan and Anton. However, fans claimed that Seunghan was missing during the supposed filming.

This has been a concern for BRIIZE since Seunghan’s hiatus. He had been on indefinite hiatus since November 2023 following a series of controversies concerning his private life. There have been no updates on him for four months now.

Seunghan has been missing out a lot of opportunities that his members have been receiving, including their brand deals with Woori Bank and Louis Vuitton.

Due to his absence, fans have decided to boycott the group and their company, starting with their upcoming spring comeback. They decided to boycott buying, streaming, and overall supporting RIIZE’s next comeback, until Seunghan’s return.

Other fans also planned to mass unfollow the official social media pages of RIIZE and SM Entertainment.

They hope that by doing so they can protect Seunghan and the rest of his members from further mistreatment and express their disappointment at SM.

Meanwhile, RIIZE continued to promote as six members in the K-pop scene. The rookie by group has also released several content, but Seunghan has since been cut out of it.

RIIZE officially debuted in September 2023 with their single album “Get a Guitar.” They are also known for their hit songs “Talk Saxy” and “Love 119.” On March 5, the boy group announced dates and cities for their 2024 fan-con tour “Riizing Day.”
