Family “chillax” places for coming holiday

WHILE the locations in the Northern Philippines remain recognizable by many families, have you ever thought about putting the Southern Philippines on your exploration list? 

Here’s a list of chill places where your family can stay on this upcoming holiday.

Siargao Island  (Siargao del Norte)

You probably saw and heard this place a lot on social media and there is no denying why such a place became talk by many.

Along with its beach view sight, the breath-taking beauty of Siargao island can be easily detected by the human eyes.

Siargao is an island of nine municipalities in the province of Surigao del Norte. The island is also named as the ‘Surfing Capital of The Philippines’ as it’s mainly responsible for introducing surfing in the country. 

Apart from Surfing, Siargao is also known for its rock climbing and cave exploration activities.

Lake Sebu (South Cotabato) 

Lake Sebu is one of the most important watersheds of the Philippines. Aside from its scenery, It is also  the major provider of irrigation of the province Sultan Kudarat and South Cotabato. 

Upon visiting the destination, tourists s can also learn about the T’boli people and their livelihood upon living by the lake for decades. 

Aside from learning about the indigenous group, visitors can also learn about the dream weavers and the cultural emblem T’nalak Fabric.

Maria Cristina Falls (Iligan City) 

We’ve all heard this a lot when we were kids, as a matter of fact our teacher had used Maria Cristina falls as an example of the Philippine waterfalls. 

Located in Iligan City, Maria Cristina Falls is known as the second highest waterfall after Aliwagwag Falls. Due to the beauty that the falls hold—the city of Iligan later became known as the “City of Majestic Waterfalls.”

Tangub (Misamis Oriental)   

Wanna further feel the holiday spirit? Try visiting Tangub City in Misamis Oriental.

The city is known for its Christmas Village due to its large display of Christmas Symbols. The festival is held on the city’s public plaza and upon visiting the area, visitors can explore the 14 landmarks inspired by different countries.

Due to larger-than-life Christmas decorations, the place is hailed as the “Christmas Symbols Capital of the Philippines.”

Aliwagwag Falls Eco Park (Davao)  

The Aliwagwag Falls Eco Park in Davao is a protected landscape. Aside from having the highest falls in the country, the falls also became known for its staircase- like structure. 

Aside from the unique scenery that it has to offer, the Eco park is also known to be the major drainage catchment in the Southern Philippine Island of Mindanao and in the Davao Region.
