EXCLUSIVE: First solo concert is a ‘big stepping stone’ — ALAMAT

by Joanna Deala

P-POP group ALAMAT is set to hold its first-ever solo concert three weeks from now; and for members Tomas, Taneo, Mo, Jao, R-Ji, and Alas, the upcoming event is a “big stepping stone.”

The six-member boy group, known for its multilingual songs, shared this in an exclusive interview with republicasia, following the press conference for its “Dagundong” concert on Tuesday, November 7, at Viva Cafe in Quezon City.

Jao shared that it was their agencies, Viva Records and Viva Artists Agency, that made the decision for them to have their own concert.

“Baka nakita na nila na we’re ready and this is our time,” he said.

“Pero on our side naman, sobrang grateful po kami. And I think we can say na it’s a really big stepping stone for us and we’re getting ready for it,” he added.

Tomas, on the other hand, thanked their agency for giving them the chance to stage their first-ever concert.

“Sobrang salamat kasi, sobrang laking tiwalang bigyan kami ng isang concert,” he stressed.

ALAMAT’s first solo concert will take place on December 1 at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City at 8 p.m.

The groups previously told republicasia that they have been preparing for the upcoming musical event by rehearsing and reviewing their songs, as well as learning new tracks.

Since this will be a major event for ALAMAT, the members said they are preparing for some surprises they have for their fans, collectively known as Magiliw.

Among the things that Magiliw should look forward to in the concert are new song arrangements.

“Siguro kung nagagandahan po kayo sa mga songs namin before, mga past songs namin, expect niyong mas pinaganda pa,” Alas said.

Tomas chipped in, “Iba kasi ‘pag bago eh. Alam mong, ‘Ay, bago talaga ‘to.’ Parang ganon, parang hindi siya yung lumang songs.”

The members are also preparing for their solo stages.

Tickets for the “Dagundong” concert went on sale in September, with prices ranging from P499 for Balcony to P3,000 for SVIP.

SVIP tickets were already sold out as of November 10, ALAMAT announced.

SVIP ticket holders will get access to both meet and greet and soundcheck, while VIP ticket holders will have access to soundcheck.

Be one with fans

ALAMAT members said they are also looking forward to being one with their fans at their upcoming concert.

“Siguro, [from] the title of the album itself, ‘IsaPuso’, magiging isa po kami with the fans. Iisang puso, emotionally, spiritually, mentally,” Jao said.

But it is not only the P-pop group that is preparing for the musical performance.

Magiliw will also hold a fanzone event on December 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gateway Mall Activity Area in Quezon City.

Titled “UGONG: Pagdating ng Dagundong,” the fanzone event is the “biggest Magiliw fanbases collaboration” in the country, fanpage Magiliw Fandom said on X.

Magiliw can enjoy participating in various games, visiting booths, getting freebies, winning prizes, and watching live performances of surprise guest artists from Viva.

The “Dagundong” concert follows the digital release of the group’s first-ever Long Play (LP) titled “IsaPuso” on November 3.

The newest album consists of eight tracks, namely, “Dagundong,” “Dayang,” “ Noli,” “Manila Dreams,” “Day and Night,” “Multo,” Walang Hanggan,” and “Dong-Dong-Ay.”

“Day and Night”— which uses Cebuano, Tagalog, and English — and “Walang Hanggan” were previously released as singles.

ALAMAT recently hit another milestone when it bagged its first-ever “Best R&B Recording” award for “Maharani” at the 36th Awit Awards.

“We would like to thank @viva_records, @VivaArtists_, Ninuno Media, the composer and producer of Maharani Sir Thyro Alfaro, and our vocal arranger Coach Zeb! May Awit na tayo, mga Magiliw!” ALAMAT posted on X on Thursday.
