THANKS for the adventure! Now go have a new one!
It has been 14 years since the iconic 2009 animated film Up’s opening sequence made moviegoers cry buckets of tears in their seats.
Although short, Carl and Ellie’s story undoubtedly captured the hearts of their audience. One can almost feel the exact same heartbreak Carl has to endure with the passing of his wife.

He will be featured in a short film called Carl’s Date as announced by mass media and entertainment company Disney.
In its social media pages, Disney said Carl’s Date, which was originally intended for a Disney+ release, will be getting a big screen treatment on June 16. The said short will be shown before the new Pixar feature Elemental.

Carl’s Date will also serve as a tribute to the late Ed Asner, who voiced Carl’s character in both the 2009 classic film and this short.
He recorded his dialogue for this short in the spring of 2021. He passed away in August of the same year.

It is uncertain whether Russell, another main character from the original film, will be present in this short. But producers said Carl will be accompanied by the same old wingman, the well-loved talking dog named Dug.

Written and directed by Pixar stalwart Bob Peterson, who co-wrote and co-directed Up, Carl’s Date will also mark the return of Pixar’s shorts following Bao in 2018.
Fans can’t help but feel ecstatic for Carl as he set foot in another exciting ride.
