by Kiko Cueto

PHILIPPINE heartthrob Darren Espanto is back, with his latest single “Bibitaw Na,” under Star Music.

Filipino-Canadian singer Espanto performed his new single for the first time in “ASAP Natin ‘To” Milan and elicited cheers from the crowd.

It was only in July that Espanto celebrated his ninth year in the showbiz industry, but this is his first record under Star Music.

But what inspired Darren about the song “Bibitaw Na”?

“This is an anthem for those who have healed from past relationships with a toxic environment. It’s about moving forward and having the sense of release from all the negativity they endured in the past,” he said.

Darren said that the upbeat track was written and produced by ABS-CBN Music creative director Jonathan Manalo.

He also said that the song caters to the different breakup stories from his close friends.

“I personally don’t relate to the song, but I wrote it for those who have found them in the same light. It started out as a joke for my friends who recently came from breakups, ewan ko kung anong meron sa mundo no’ng mga panahon na ‘yon kasi halos sabay-sabay sila, but I continued writing it and this is the outcome,” he said.

Darren rose to fame during his awe inspiring performance at the first season of “The Voice Kids Philippines.”

He finished runner-up under Sarah Geronimo’s team.

From thereon, Darren became a key figure as one of the voices of his generation.

Among his hits include “In Love Ako Sayo,” “7 Minutes,” and “Dying Inside To Hold You.”

He also has two studio albums under his belt entitled “Darren” and “Be With Me.” Both went platinum.

“Bibitaw Na” available on various music streaming platforms.
