Concert staples: 8 things to bring when watching live music gigs

by Joyce Remo

AFTER two years of enjoying concerts only in the virtual space, the world is now allowing fans to return to their natural habitats so that they could sing their hearts and lungs out while jamming to their favorite songs on live concert grounds.

Since it has been ages since Filipinos were able to enjoy the full concert experience, many may be clueless about the things they should bring for the next live gig they would watch.

Worry not because republicasia has sorted out concert staples you should have with you when you head to the next concert.

Bag

One cannot really go to a concert empty-handed, so tiny but functional bags are a must have when attending a live music show. While concert organizers have their own specifications about which types of bags will be allowed at the venue, it is recommended to use fanny packs or cross body bags that will not hinder concert-goers from jumping and dancing with their favorite musicians.

Ticket

Obviously, you cannot enter the concert grounds without your ticket! Some organizers accept online tickets as entrance passes, but others prefer the traditional printed copies. It’s best to research on that so you can allot time to claim your physical tickets at the respective claiming booths.

Identifications and vaccine card

Since scalpers, or those who illegally hoard concert tickets, are prevalent, many concert organizers have become strict when it comes to letting people inside concert grounds. This is why it is important to bring proper identification cards. republicasia also recommends bringing with you your vaccination certificates as it has become a requirement for entering a variety of venues and establishments.

Lightstick and extra batteries

Many would agree that concerts equate to light shows because of the prominent use of lightsticks, lightbands, and other similar objects inside the venue. Lightsticks have also become a symbol for many fandoms, especially KPop ones, and are usually held while idols are performing their songs on stage.

To prevent your light from dwindling inside the dimmed arena, bring extra batteries with you for extra sparkle and fun!

Powerbank

Of course, it goes without saying that you will want to document these intimate and special moments with your favorite music artists. While some smartphones have longer battery lives, it is recommended that concert-goers bring power banks to prevent their phones from dying.

Wallet or card holders

During concert events, there will be booths that will sell both official and unofficial concert merchandise. Although most vendors accept e-Cash and credit cards, republicasia suggests that you bring extra cash for emergency purposes. You may put these inside a small purse, wallet, or card holders.

Portable fans

While most concert arenas are well-ventilated and air conditioned, the queueing areas are not. To avoid looking haggard prior to seeing your stans, bring portable fans to keep you cool and fresh during concert events.

Emergency kit

Accidents, especially during concerts, are inevitable. Although there will be medics on-duty during live events, it is best to have a small emergency kit that contains OTC drugs like paracetamol, anti-allergy medicines, and band-aids, to name a few. These will serve as first-aid to concert-induced headaches and scratches.

Once you’re ready with all of these, go out and enjoy the gig!
