EVERY year, there’s a special day to recognize the queen of the family for their hardships and sacrifices. Mother’s Day is the best way to honor them with our appreciation by making small gestures or giving little presents.

Still having trouble what to give your beloved mom on Mother’s Day? Worry no more because we’ve got you covered by these budget-friendly gifts that will surely melt their hearts.

Your kind words matter to your mom and writing it down for her to treasure those words is the best gift ever. Either you’ll evenly tear up a page from your aesthetic journal, notebook, or buy a greeting card, and jot down the loving qualities your mom has.

Just make sure to show your sincerity through your gesture because according to the Psychology of Handwritten Letter, “handwritten evoke feelings of nostalgia and sentimentality.” It also moves heart and mind through words of affirmation that’ll be very much appreciated by your mother.

2. Flowers

As a kid, did you ever pick flowers from somebody’s garden just to give it your mom when you got home? Well, some of you might have done so, and guess what, your mom is probably full of happiness.

Flowers is one of the cliche gifts to give to your mom but is a special one especially when you give her favorite flowers. Supporting small businesses that are selling D.I.Y flowers like crochet, made from silk textile or crepe paper could be options, thanks to the creativity of the crafters.

3. Give bento cakes

Giving your mom small cakes that have a heartwarming dedication on it is a simple yet sweet way to celebrate her special day. Small businesses offer these cakes that are so affordable—they range from Php 200 to Php 450, depending on the size.

Minimalist or fewer words are often designed on the bento cakes but you could request for a dedication such as, “Hapi Nanay’s Day!,” or “Labyu, Ma!,” or “Labyu! Ingat palagi!” which are kind of humorous but cute.

4. Cook her favorite dish

If you have the budget to spare and want to make an effort for your mom, try to cook her favorite dish and serve it for lunch or dinner. Well, a dish is nothing without the ingredients, so better get up early and go to the market to buy your needs.

To add refreshments to the vibe, you could also make some fruit drinks like melon juice, orange juice or mango shake, plus her favorite dessert.

5. Do chores for a day

If you don’t have a budget but wanted to treat your mom, the best way could be to get her out of her household chores even once. Take up the dishwashing, cooking, cleaning, or even laundry. The more you help your mom, the less you would hear her complaining, “Wala ka nang ginawa kun’di mag-selpon!” Relate much?

This simple act of service should not be a one-time thing; it must also be our responsibility as the children to lighten her load and give her a break.

These are the things you could give to your mom this coming Mother’s Day. But the most important thing to give her is for you to be the better version of a person that she’s proud to have, someone who made her feel loved and adored, and someone that she can lean on in terms of adversity.

Mother’s Day is certainly not the only day to appreciate your mom. Give her hugs and kisses and say nice words every day. Cherish every moment with your mom and provide her with unconditional love.
