Book Depository will be closing its doors to international customers by the end of the month, the popular United Kingdom-based online bookstore has announced on its social media pages and official website.

The online bookshop will be ending its services on April 26, but customers can still order books until midday (April 26, 7 p.m. on Philippine time). Deliveries and other customer support services will be available until June 23.

Orders will be delivered within their normal delivery times.

However, it will no longer accommodate new orders after April 26.

The bookstore also announced that customers may cancel unshipped orders by completing the cancellation form. They may also return their orders.

Book Depository advised patrons that although they will try to deliver pre-orders within the normal delivery period, customers should bear in mind that “release dates may change” and the store may not be able to fulfill their orders.

Book Depository also thanked its patrons for the continuous support it has received since it opened in 2007.

Fans also expressed somber remarks regarding the bookstore’s shutdown, comparing it to the burning of the library in Alexandria in ancient Egypt.

Book Depository is one of the online shops that provides access to many titles that are typically unavailable in some countries. It also delivers books at a lower cost, allowing readers from all over the world to enjoy the wonders of books without hurting their savings.
