Awra Briguela resurfaces on social media a month after bar brawl, promotes comedy show

by Izel Abanilla

EVER wondered what happened to controversial Gen Z comedian Awra Briguela following her arrest for a bar brawl in Poblacion, Makati?

Briguela has been silent since the incident, but she returned to social media more than a month later.

She did not say anything about what happened in Poblacion, though; she just posted a photo to promote her newest project.

On Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), the comedian shared the poster of her forthcoming series Comedy Island Philippines, which will be available on Prime Video.

It also stars Carlo Aquino, Rufa Mae Quinto, Andrea Brillantes, Gerald Napoles, Kai Cortez, Justine Luzares and Drew Arellano.

The series will follow the lives of the celebrities who washed up on the shores of a mysterious island called Tawa-Tawa, which resurfaced after 100 years for the fictional “Centennial Games.”

Contenders must compete in games to survive and eventually escape the island.

What happened

Last June 29, the 19-year-old comedian hogged the headlines when she and her friends partied at a bar in Poblacion, Makati and later figured in an altercation with a man whom she supposedly asked to undress

The man later told police that Briguela hit him, and a commotion ensued when her friends got involved.

Briguela’s friends, on the other hand, said she was only defending a friend who was supposedly harassed at the bar.

Briguel was arrested after the incident and detained for days before being released after posting bail.
