Awra Briguela responds to bar brawl complaints, files countercharges – reports

by Joanna Deala

Comedian Awra Briguela has responded to the complaints filed against her in relation to the controversial Makati bar brawl that she figured in back in June and also filed counter-complaints against her accusers.

Briguela submitted her counter-affidavit to the three complaints filed against her by Mark Christian Ravana for light threats, grave coercion, and violation of the Safe Spaces Act, according to news reports.

Ravana had alleged that the 19-year-old showbiz personality asked him to undress before they got into an altercation at a bar in Poblacion.

Briguela, accompanied by lawyer Mikaelo Jaime Reyes, personally filed the counter-affidavit against Ravana before the office of Makati Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Arvin Amata, the reports said.

The two camps met at the prosecutor’s office for the preliminary investigation of the complaints, but it was postponed to Thursday because the witness from Briguela’s camp was not available, according to a report by Super Radyo DZBB.

Briguela also lodged countercharges against Ravana and one other individual for slight physical injury and for violating the Anti-Wiretapping Act and the Safe Spaces Act in connection with the videos taken inside the police station and posted on social media.

The camp of Briguela did not give further details about the case.

Meanwhile, Ravana’s camp also told reporters that there was no settlement yet between Ravana and Briguela.

“Wala pa namang ganon. We’re not at that stage yet,” Ravana’s lawyer, Nick Nangin, said in a report by Radyo Inquirer On-Line.

“This is just the preliminary investigation where they subscribed under oath ‘yung kanilang mga finiled na counter-affidavit, sa amin naman complaint,” he added.

The actress was released from police custody in July after she posted bail of P6,000 for charges of slight physical injuries and simple disobedience to a person in authority.

It’s Showtime host Vice Ganda, Briguela’s manager, previously confirmed to ABS-CBN News that the actress is still her talent and that she would not leave her, especially at this point in her life.

“Ito lang ang gusto kong klaruhin: Hindi kami naghihiwalay ni Awra,” the comedy superstar stressed.

“She needs guidance, and I will be there for her,” she added.
