Asoka makeup challenge: a new TikTok fever

by RepublicAsia

THE ASOKA makeup challenge has seen a massive surge on TikTok. It attracted users with its cultural inspiration and modern beauty techniques. This trend captured viewers with its impressive looks and innovative cosmetic skills.

This TikTok trend shows makeup artists and influencers grooving to the song “San Sanana” by Anu Malik, Alka Yagnik, and Hema Sardesai. The song is from the 2001 Bollywood film “Asoka,” which starred Kareena Kapoor. They expertly switch between their everyday appearance and elaborate Indian bridal makeup during the dance, and once the song finishes, they reveal a stunning makeover.

Lenie Aycardo, a Filipino TikTok content creator, hopped onto the trend and garnered 67 million views and almost 7 million likes.

Aycardo’s makeup challenge accumulated various reactions. Many netizens were amazed by her take on this trend but some suggested to make it more pleasing and stunning. Because of this, she served us with her “2nd version of Asoka Makeup Trend.”

Majority of the TikTok community loved their takes on the Asoka makeup challenge. They then asked both content creators to develop another content: the “Piliin Mo Ang Pilipinas” trend.

Due to the trend’s success on TikTok, netizens on other social media platforms as well as the fashion industry took notice.

Influencers, makeup enthusiasts, and even kids on Facebook and Instagram have joined the Asoka trend by including its defining features in their videos and encouraging their audience to also follow the trend.

How about you? Are you willing to take on this makeup challenge?
