MORE than 10,800 law graduates are expected to take the 2023 Bar exams starting on Sunday, September 17.
Data released by the Office of Bar Chairperson and Supreme Court Associate Justice Ramon Paul Hernando on Friday showed that of the 10,816 examinees, 5,832 will be taking it for the first time, while 4,984 will do it for the second time.
Six core subjects will be featured in this year’s exams, which will be held on September 17, 20, and 24.
These are Political and Public International Law (15%); Commercial and Taxation Laws (20%); Civil Law (20%); Labor Law and Social Legislation (10%); Criminal Law (10%); and Remedial Law, Legal and Judicial Ethics with Practical Exercises (25%).
”These core subjects were determined and approved by the Court En Banc upon thoughtful review of previous syllabi and due consideration of the latest developments in legal practice,” the SC said in a press release.
A total of 2,571 Bar personnel will be deployed to 14 testing centers across the country.
Last year, 3,992 out of 9,183 examinees passed the exams.
Of the 30 takers who obtained the highest ratings, 13 were from the University of the Philippines, and eight were from the Ateneo de Manila University.
