THE rain seems to be pouring endlessly in various parts of the country since the beginning of the wet season.

While for now it is difficult to go out and enjoy the weekends outside with family and friends, the sun will definitely show itself again in between downpours.

And what better way to enjoy the brief sunshine interlude than go out on a picnic date with the ones you love?

republicasia curated a list of seven perfect spots around the metro where you can hold your picnic dates when the sun finally comes out.

UP Sunken Garden

Tucked into the heart of the University of the Philippines – Diliman in Quezon City, the Sunken Garden could be one of the ideal places to spread out a blanket and bask under the setting sun.

This wide open area welcomes everyone who wants to visit and enjoy the tranquility it provides. 

People flock to the place to get a taste of nature and to enjoy some street food found within the university premises.

Track 30th

Bonifacio Global City is famous for being one of the most walkable cities in the country.

But aside from strolling in between huge establishments, people can also sit down amidst the greenery of Track 30th, a park located in Uptown, BGC, in Taguig City.

While it’s usually a spot for fitness activities of those residing near the area, many have been ordering takeout and spending their quiet afternoons nibbling on snacks, catching up with friends, or people-watching at the park.

Washington Sycip Park

Situated in Legazpi Village in Makati City, Washington Sycip Park is one of the many parks in the city where people can settle down and enjoy a nice, cold cup of coffee.

This green haven is also home to plenty of artwork and a Japanese garden.

The shade from the trees will surely invite people to walk along its trails and find pleasure as the cool wind touches their skin.

Jaime C. Velasquez Park

Known for hosting Art in the Park and the Salcedo Saturday Market, Jamie C. Velasquez Park is the perfect spot to enjoy picnicking for families with children.

This not-so-hidden gem in Bel-Air Village in Makati City boasts of a fun playground for kids and a couple of benches for those who babysit them.

Ayala Triangle Gardens

Another famous picnic spot in Makati is the Ayala Triangle Gardens. 

Although Paseo de Roxas is the city’s central business district, Ayala Triangle could still be a place where visitors can relax and enjoy work-free weekends with a picnic date with their loved ones.

There’s a massive outdoor space to sit on to destress and lush green trees to admire while enjoying packed or takeout meals.

Plaza Moriones

Next in the list is this park situated inside Intramuros, one of the country’s historical heritage sites.

Plaza Moriones is one of the favorite hangout spots of many Manileños.

Aside from the spacious field where visitors can enjoy the warmth of the setting sun, there are also a lot of historic places to visit in this walled city.

Pinaglabanan Shrine

Embraced by astounding fire trees, Pinaglabanan Shrine is one of the quiet parks located in San Juan.

This park is perfect for people who are looking for a spot in the metro where they can enjoy a leisurely stroll or lay in the grass after munching the pastries they bought at a nearby cafe.
