“You’re a f**king movie star.”

Maxine Minx, ‘MaXXXine’

FANS of horror movies “X” and “Pearl” have taken to X to show their excitement as the trailer for “MaXXXine,” the third part of the film series, has finally been released by A24.

The first film was set in 1979, the second in 1918, and the third in the 1980s. While the second film “Pearl” served as a prequel to “X,” this movie now follows what has happened to the main character of the film five years later.

The trailer shows Maxine Minx, the lone survivor in “X,” trying to make a name for herself in Hollywood. She struggles to escape her past, especially as bodies start to pile up due to a serial killer named Night Stalker roaming around town.

The film’s cast is made up of an ensemble of talented actors and actresses such as Mia Goth (Maxine), Lily Collins (Molly), Giancarlo Esposito, Elizabeth Debicki, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, and Bobby Cannavale. Singer Halsey will also be joining the cast as Maxine’s friend, Tabby.

Goth, who’s played the lead character in all three films of director Ti West’s trilogy thus far, said that “MaXXXine” has the best script out of all of them. She also felt that it was going to be the best movie out of the three, which is a bold claim to make, considering how much fans loved the first two films.

“It’s the biggest story of the three with the highest stakes and Maxine has gone through so much at this point,” she said in an interview with Variety.

“When we find her in this new world, she’s just a force to be reckoned with, and she goes through some pretty wild adventures.”

“MaXXXine” is set to premiere in theaters on July 5, 2024.

The Night Stalker

One part of the film central to the plot is the involvement of the serial killer, the Night Stalker.

This man, however, is not fictional. He was a real person named Richard Ramirez who was convicted of killing 13 people in his lifetime – and these were only the ones that were proven.

Ramirez, a Satanist, would often sexually assault and beat up his victims, leaving several Satanic symbols at the crime scene.

Some speculate that the troubled childhood that Ramirez had growing up is something West might delve into in his upcoming film, as in the film, Maxine’s upbringing was rather similar to his.

This is seen in the end of the first film, when it’s revealed that Maxine is actually the daughter of a pastor, and she ran away in pursuit of a career in the adult film industry.

This connection, however, is still mere speculation. Little has been revealed about how “MaXXXine” is actually going to go down, but fans are excited nonetheless.
