MOVIE time is family time!

In order to get close to your family, sometimes it’s nice to watch movies that replicate or show the reality of what families go through. No family is perfect, and these movies show exactly that while telling a story of how family members can choose to forgive each other and learn from their mistakes.

If you’re looking for comedy, heartwarming, or angsty family movies, here are some picks for you:

Four Sisters and a Wedding

When CJ Salazar announced that he was getting married to his girlfriend, his older sisters, Teddy, Bobby, Alex, and Gabby, found a way to stop the wedding after meeting their future sister-in-law’s rich, unlikeable family. During the course of the story, the siblings try their best to understand each other, but their greatest obstacle is their own insecurity.

Since it’s a Filipino movie, of course, there’s a happy ending for all of the Salazar siblings, even if things don’t go as planned.

This might be a funny movie, especially when the sisters’ plans fail and backfire, but it will hit home with every Filipino child as it goes deeper and reveals that each sister has her own insecurities and unresolved feelings.

Seven Sundays

The Bonifacio siblings grew up estranged from their family. With the sudden news that their father, Manuel, is dying of cancer, they find a way to spend time with him on the remaining seven Sundays before his death. The siblings try to get along but end up arguing because of their grudges and differences.

Manuel receives news that the diagnosis was a mistake but decides to keep it a secret, scared that his children will leave him. With the Bonifacio siblings still clueless about their father’s secret, they slowly get along and rebuild their broken relationship.

Tanging Yaman

A classic Filipino movie that teaches about forgiveness.

When Loleng Rosales is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, her children Danny, Art, and Grace visit their ancestral home to take care of her. However, the siblings also became distant from each other as they grew up with different principles and carried grudges of their own.

Sa’yo Lamang

Eldest daughter Dianne finds it difficult that her father, Franco, came back to her family after leaving for ten years. Everyone in her family seems to be happy about Dianne’s father’s return, especially her mother, Amanda. But they slowly realize that it’s not easy to rebuild their broken family.

Way Back Home

Jessica and Joanna are sisters who were close as children. However, since Joanna went missing, Jessica has been carrying the guilt of losing her sister and accepting her mother’s grudge towards her.

Jessica has no idea that Joanna, who is now called Ana, was raised by another family and is living well. Jessica struggles with how to once again let her sister into her life after their mother sees Ana participating in their swimming competition.
