Higher plane tickets expected next month

HAVE a bigger budget for your summer escapade, that is if you plan to fly.

The flying public should expect higher airfares as the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) upgraded the fuel surcharge level of domestic and international flights.

In a statement, the CAB noted that the passenger and cargo fuel surcharge being implemented in domestic and international flights was set at Level 5 for the period March 1 to 31, 2025.

This is a notch higher than the current Level 4.

A fuel surcharge is an optional fee, which is not included in the base fare. They are being passed by airlines to passengers to recover costs due to the volatility of the jet fuel.

It will be recalled that the CAB adjusts fuel surcharges, as is due to the price movement of jet fuel.

On the other hand, under Level 5, the passengers are expected to pay P151 to P542 in fuel surcharges for domestic flights, depending on flight distance.
