Missing XG? New song out this month

by Joyce Remo

JAPANESE girl group XG, or Xtraordinary Girls, will release its highly-anticipated third single called SHOOTING STAR on January 25.

The group previously teased fans with this comeback in their December Instagram post with the caption: “XG Wish Delivery App.” The post sent fans into a frenzy as they speculated about the possible new release from the HipHop/R&B girl group.

Alongside the comeback, XG also served visuals with their uniform blue hair as seen in their concept photos for the single album. The group is known for its bold and creative concept, making them trendsetters for its fans worldwide.

The seven-piece girl band recently released its second single called MASCARA that topped the iTunes chart in 17 countries. It also charted on Spotify’s Viral 50 chart in multiple territories, including Southeast Asia.

The group’s GALZ XYPHER performance also gained attention from international fans and made a huge impact on social media platforms, especially on TikTok.

XG was the first girl group to debut under the global entertainment production company XGALX. The South Korea-based group hit the scene with its first digital single Tippy Toes in 2022. XG sold out its debut single’s physical copies within 48 hours from the pre-sales announcement.

As of writing, the official music video for Tippy Toes has reached 21 million views on YouTube while the track has gained 11,305,145 streams on Spotify.

Composed of members JURIN, CHISA, HINATA, HARVEY, JURIA, MAYA, and COCONA, the group delivers fresh, inventive music and performances while empowering young people from all over the world and from all walks of life.

In 2022, XG snatched its first win at the MTV Video Music Awards in Japan with the “Rising Star Award.”
