TikTok fuels business opportunity for brands this summer season

Summer smells like moolah and more moolah for entrepreneurs on Tiktok who want to grow their business and increase their sales.

“Summer is a huge opportunity for brands as user behaviors present clear guideposts that brands and marketers can use to create greater engagement and activation,” Life Dawn Cervero, Vertical Lead of TikTok Philippines, said in a statement.

The TikTok Summer Trends and Insights report, which is based on a Commissioned Survey by Teluna in January, highlights summer trends analysis among Filipino app users. It determines their excitement for the summer season across various contents.

The report shows how the video-sharing site can provide a platform for brands to market and promote their products and services since summer. Tiktok believes this would be a massive opportunity for businessmen to strengthen their engagements with their target audience.

Based on the survey, travel, food and beverage, and fashion are major categories that help identify what customers are looking at, what they intend to do, and how companies can actively participate in enhancing customer experience and boosting mind recall.

Filipinos as summer trendsetters

The report also showed that Filipinos are fashion trendsetters.

As of January 2023, TikTok noticed that the number of users who are looking forward to shopping for summer season sales is 1.4 times more compared to last year’s data.

About 47% of users planned their summer holiday purchases at least a month in advance.

“Data such as these provide brands with greater inspiration to create more targeted marketing strategies and take advantage of the growing consumer uptake,” the report said.

Further, Filipinos on TikTok are also eyeing some summer fashion items, including casual wear, swimwear, and other summer-related clothing.

The report also said that 81% of TikTok users are planning to buy fashion products and the majority, at 87%, are willing to spend more if there are special summer discounts and promos.

Foodie and traveler, too

Filipinos are big on summer getaways, according to Tiktok.

Data shows that three out of four TikTok users plan their summer trips ahead of time. About 77% of the survey respondents said that they want to spend the season with their family and friends.

“As these users prepare for their getaways, content on the TikTok platform is predicted to center on resorts, beach activities, road trips, cultural and sightseeing adventures, and even food hunts,” the report read.

As expected, Filipinos are certified foodies. The survey said 66% look forward to buying summer treats and drinks and 68% of the respondents are up for trying new merch and food menus.
