Thunder crush Celtics 150-117

OKLAHOMA became a nightmare for the NBA’s number one team as the Boston Celtics were beaten badly Wednesday morning (Manila time) by the Thunder 150-117.

The Celtics were hoping to bounce back after getting humbled by the number two ranked team in the league, the Denver Nuggets a couple of days ago. That may not come as a surprise but this was a shocker.

The Thunder (15-21) came into this game in last place of the Northwest division. Only five teams had worse records in the entire 30-team NBA. So beating the Celtics by 33 points had odds makers scratching their heads.

It started ominously enough with the teams trading baskets in the first quarter until Oklahoma threatened to pull away with a running dunk from Tre Mann with 3 minutes and 33 seconds left in the quarter. The Celtics responded though with a 7-0 run to stay close. The Thunder led by one at the end of the quarter behind balanced team scoring.

The second quarter was a different story though. Oklahoma outscored the Celtics by 19 points behind Jaylen Williams and Isaiah Joe. Oklahoma had eight players score in double figures with five of them scoring more than 20. Josh Giddey led the team with 25 points.

Oklahoma never looked back as the lead ballooned to 31 points in the third quarter and ended the game with a 33 point win, handing the NBA’s top team their second straight loss.

The Celtics Jaylen Brown topped all scorers with 29 points and Jayson Tatum had 27 points.

Boston will be heading out to Dallas to face the Mavericks while Oklahoma will be facing Orlando next.
