A STORY circulated a long time ago that rock icon Sting could have sex for seven hours.
Everyone who heard about it started to look at Sting differently. Men felt intimidated and inadequate at the same time, while the women, of course, had other ideas.
He never elaborated on it, which only heightened the myth. His publicist didn’t mind the mystery attached to it.
Sting’s wife, Trudy Styler, revealed in a 2011 interview what the actual score was.
Styler said Bob Geldof, known for setting up one of the biggest fundraising concerts in the 80s called LIVE AID, started the rumor.
It started from a rock reporter’s interview with Sting and Geldof that turned into a drinking session.
The reporter asked an inebriated Geldof about his sex life and how long he can stay in the sack with a woman. Geldof quipped that he was just a three-minute man, referring to the short time it takes him to orgasm.
What set the wheels in motion was when he told the interviewer that Sting could go longer because he did yoga, leading to the rumor catching on.
Sting is known to practice eastern methods of spiritual awakening. So when he was asked again about the rumors about his sexual potency, he was only happy to talk about it. He was thrilled by the interest shown in the topic of sex.
He feels the conversation is vital so that people will better understand the subject matter, which should have been spoken about more when he was growing up.
Sting was asked again whether or not the rumor about him lasting seven hours having sex was true, he gave a humorous reply. “It includes dinner and a movie.”
He then proceeds to explain what tantric sex is all about.
“I don’t know any purer and better way of expressing a love for another individual than sharing that wonderful, I call it, ‘sacrament.'” Sting explained in an interview in 2014.
“I would stand by it. Not seven hours, but the idea.” he added.
Here’s what we know about the “sacrament”:
According to Marc Allen, author of the book “Tantra for the West: A Guide to Personal Freedom”: “It’s time we saw sex as the truly sacred art that it is. A deep meditation, a holy communion and a dance with the force of creation.”
Besides the health benefits and the profound impact that this might have on your relationship, experts say it does not work for everyone. The best recourse is to see a therapist or an expert.
