WHERE are you spending your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?
It seems wherever you are in the Philippines – from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi – the weather will be cloudy with varying degrees of rain showers.
Based on the weather outlook released by the state weather forecasting agency Pagasa, holiday revelers in Cebu, Palawan and Bicol will likely get more rain showers than the rest of the country.
The Northeast Monsoon as well as the low-pressure area in Mindanao are contributing to the rains this holiday. Let’s pray that these rains are just like that, not the flood-and-landslide inducing kind.
If you are heading to the beach, make sure you pack your umbrellas as well as your sunscreen, just in case.
Anilao beaches in Batangas, Puerto Galera in Mindoro Oriental will enjoy sun, with cloudy skies and bit rain showers.
For those who have already booked in El Nido, Palawan, Cebu, Bohol, and Boracay, it might be rainy with thunderstorms. Swimming in the open beach with thunder is probably not a good idea.
Baguio and Ifugao are haven to those who wanted chilly Christmas feels.
In Baguio, it’s gonna be 16°C on December 24 and 15°C on Christmas Day. Banaue in Ifugao will be a bit colder at 15°C and 14°C on Christmas eve and Christmas day respectively. Revelers can still enjoy the sun, with cloudy skies and rains in the Cordillera region.
For those who are planning to trek Mt. Apo on Christmas, it might not be a good idea. The forecast is Davao will be sunny with rains and thunderstorms all throughout the week.
Tagaytay won’t be as chilly as Baguio but the temperature will still be a decent 23°C on December 24 and 22°C on December 25. There will be sun, and a bit of showers.
Naga City will also see the sun with rains and showers.
There’s gonna be sun, with lots of clouds and bit of rains.
The rains may dampen the country this holiday season, but hopefully not the spirit. Hope you find the real meaning of Christmas with your family, despite the weather. Have a not-so-wet merry Christmas!
