Rainy Saturday in Luzon, parts of the Visayas

IF you’re in Luzon and going out today, prepare your umbrellas and raincoats. 

The northeast monsoon and the shear line will bring rains in most of Luzon and parts of the Visayas, according to the state weather bureau.

Flash floods and landslides are possible in some areas.

But there is no low pressure area on the horizon that could worsen the weather in the country.

Luzon weather

Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon.

The Bicol region and Palawan will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line, or the convergence of hot and cold winds that forms rain clouds.

Residents in these areas are advised to watch out for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains. 

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon. 

Visayas and Mindanao

The shear line will also bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Northern Samar.

Flash floods and landslides are possible because of moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

The rains may be moderate to heavy and may also cause flash floods and landslides. Caution is advised especially during severe thunderstorms.

Rough seas

The northeast monsoon is still causing rough to very rough seas in several areas, with waves as high as 5.5 meters or as tall as a two-storey building.

Fisherfolk and small sea vessels in the following areas are advised not to head out to sea:
