What's Happening?

Rainy Saturday due to LPA, amihan

GET ready for a rainy weekend.

Many parts of the country will have a wet Saturday because of the low pressure area east southeast of Davao City, and the northeast monsoon.

The low pressure area will continue to bring rain over most of Mindanao, the Visayas, and the Bicol region.

The northeast monsoon, or amihan, will bring cold winds and some light rain in Luzon.

The state weather bureau, or the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said the LPA is unlikely to strengthen into a tropical storm.

But in the next few days, it will traverse the eastern portion of the country and could bring rain.

Luzon weather

There will be scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Bicol region as well as Romblon, Marinduque, and Quezon because of the low pressure area.

Residents in the area are advised to watch out for possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rain because of the northeast monsoon.

Metro Manila and other areas of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies in the morning and can expect light rain in the afternoon and evening because of the northeast monsoon.

Visayas and Mindanao

Visayas and most of Mindanao will feel the direct effects of the low pressure area.

There will be at times heavy rain in Eastern Visayas and the Caraga region, and Pagasa may issue heavy rainfall warnings and rainfall advisories.

Western and Central Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and the Davao region will have cloudy skies and light to moderate with at times heavy rain throughout the day.

Flash floods and landslides are possible, Pagasa warned.

The Zamboanga peninsula, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro region will have cloudy skies and may have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
