Ph bet Celeste Cortesi flies as Darna at 71st Miss Universe costume tilt

SHE remains to be a crowd favorite. 

After her impressive feat at the preliminaries for the 71st Miss Universe competition, Philippine candidate Celeste Cortesi stunned the global audience yet again this time as she channeled ultimate Filipino heroine Darna at the pageant’s national costume competition today. 

Just like television’s current Darna Jane de Leon, the 25-year-old stunner too was equally ready for the fight of her life donning an all-too familiar two piece suit by renowned designer Oliver Tolentino whereas her headpiece as well as other metal accessories were courtesy of Jerome Navarro. 

Completing her look are a pair of knee-high red boots and red arm bands. Her entire look is lined with gold accents. She too had a golden sun backpiece with eight rays that resemble that of the Philippine flag. 

“Darna is the ultimate Filipina superhero and part of this country’s pop culture. She transforms from an ordinary woman with the help of a white stone, standing up for those who cannot defend themselves. Have no fear ’cause Darna is here in the Philippines,” the voice over narrated as Cortesi proudly showcased the Filipina heroine.

Meanwhile, Kapamilya series “Darna” too has issued its official statement of support for the country’s bet. 

The full statement reads, “We are proud of Miss Universe Philippines 2022 Celeste Cortesi for championing Darna on the world stage through the 71st Miss Universe national costume competition.”

The winner for the best national costume will be announced during the 71st Miss Universe coronation which will be held at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.
