Personalities gather for republicasia private viewing

MANILA – It was a jam packed night of fun, celebration and a whole new hope for the media industry when Republic Asia first opened for private viewing its website and its first set of stories on social media pornsites.

republicasia was officially launched on November 5. Various people from politics, showbiz, business and media all came together to witness the birth of a new platform that offers a whole new take on news reporting and sharing stories of people and the community.

The futuristic newsroom

What set the bar high was the look, feel and design of the workplace. republicasia’s office was modeled after the architecture of a futuristic newsroom. Guests wowed at the sight fixtures like bleachers, strobe lights, a roundabout editorial, a bar, a separate kitchen, studios and a gender-neutral toilet area.

A guest quipped: “It’s so nice to work here.” Another one exclaimed: “I’ve never seen anything like this.”

Everything was simply Instagrammable.

Guests

republicasia’s launch was graced by personalities such as doctors to the stars Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho, former Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Quezon City Councilor Alfred Vargas, actress Erin Ocampo, Magsasaka party-list Representative Robert Nazal Jr., Manila Police District spokesperson Maj. Philipp Ines, and Canadian Counsellor Colin Townson.

All of them expressed excitement and hope over what Republic Asia has to offer. Everyone wanted to see the full potential of the marriage of technology and journalism and how news can be crafted through innovative reporting to appeal to the younger audience.

Domagoso hailed the idea, saying he liked what he saw.

At least well informed ang tao sa kanyang pamayanan, sa kanyang komunidad, basta gamitin mo lang ng tama, tingin ko, malaking bagay ang technology, using it for communication,  sa ating mga kababayan,” he said.

Words from the EIC, CEO

The program kicked off with a speech from republicasia’s editor in chief, award-winning journalist Gerry Lirio. Before an amazed audience, he shared how the company all came together from a vision to a mission.

The seasoned newsman explained that the birth of republicasia would not be possible without its inception first in the mind of Bran F. Reluao, the company’s Chief Executive Officer.

As Reluao took the stage, he shared how “social media has become a powerful tool for social change.”

A communication and social media strategist himself, he knew how to harness the power of the platform. Moreover, knowing what beats in the hearts of his fellow Gen Zs, he likewise knows exactly what directions to take.

As a teaser, the company showed a glimpse of the kind of content that everyone, especially the Millennials and Gen Zs, could expect from republicasia.
