Palace might reconcile with Prince Harry before King Charles Coronation

BUCKINGHAM Palace “are set” to mend fences with Prince Harry before King Charles’ coronation in May this year, the Sun UK reports. 

What’s driving the news

King Charles III officially took over the helm of the head of state of the United Kingdom and 14 Commonwealth realms since the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth, September last year.

His coronation, along with wife Camilla, will take place on May 6, 2023 at Westminster Abbey.

However, Charles III’s first salvo as king is marred with the biggest scandal since the death of his first wife, Diana. 

Prince Harry and his wife, Hollywood actress Meghan Markle, opened a can of worms on the dynamics of the royal family including alleged collusion with the British press. Many British royalists believe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reached a point of no-return to Buckingham Palace.

Royal reconciliation

British tabloid Sun UK quoted the palace sources saying the royal family believe that the rift is “fixable” but it’s going to take efforts from both sides. 

They told the Sunday Times: “It needs Harry over here, in the room with the King and Prince of Wales and a couple of other family members.”

“Both sides need to hold their hands up and admit we didn’t get everything right, and we got a lot wrong.” the source added. 

Prince Harry is not keen on attending the coronation but said “the ball is in their court”. He told British journalist Tom Bradby: “There’s a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”

However, some senior officials from the palace would rather not see the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the coronation as they fear they will “end up in the paperback”. Apparently, there are worries for some royals according to the Sun that their private conversations will belatedly end up in the book.  

Based on the Sun’s survey of their 31,300 readers, 78 percent want the royal couple to stay away from the historic day.

Spare

In a tell-all book “Spare,” Prince Harry said the Queen Consort Camilla purposely leaked information to the press to rehabilitate her image and that his brother, Prince William got into a physical altercation with him over Meghan. 

His book Spare has divided opinion among people in the UK and from across the Atlantic.
