‘Paano Na Tayo’ : Kean Cipriano launches heartbreaking single

AS HE embarks on a solo career, singer-actor Kean Cipriano breaks into the hearts of many once again as he touches on the pains of couples on the verge of ending their love in heartbreaking new single “Paano Na Tayo.”

With words such as “Saan na tayo papunta? Umaasa ba ako sa wala? Dumidilim na ang daan Paano Na Tayo?” tears would surely fall.

Written by Kean himself, the song seeks to ask lovers in a similar situation what happened and where things went wrong.

“I just wanted to tell a story about that phase in a relationship where the couple needs to decide if they will continue or not,” Kean said.

The song however is not a new composition. Written over a decade ago, “Paano Na Tayo” is Kean’s follow-up to “Tayuman,” his first solo release after his disengagement from his former band.

As its official audio was released on YouTube Saturday (November 26), netizens have been raving about the song and how the singer just made them cry once again.

In his upcoming concert “Pulso” on November 29 at the New Frontier, he will be joined by two fellow hitmakers Unique Salonga and Adie.

Life after Callalily

For over 17 years and with monstrous hits such as “Magbalik,” “Stars,” “Iintindihin Ko,” “Yakap” and “Sanctuary” among many others, Kean, together with his band Callalily have undoubtedly defined music of a generation.

But now, after nearly two decades, Kean decided to sail solo. Without inhibitions, Kean admitted that indeed he was no longer on good terms with his former bandmates and that his time with Callalily was done.

‘I am no longer happy’

“It’s hard to stay in a place where you’re not happy anymore, where you’re uninspired, and where you don’t feel valued and respected. You can’t hide the feeling that the spark, the magic is gone. I was no longer happy,” he said in an interview.

News of Kean’s departure came weeks after the band changed its name from Callalily to just “Lily” and had since on a hunt for a new vocalist. Not long after, the band announced that the search is over and JBK former member Joshua Bulot is now its newest frontman.

In 2018, Kean launched his own music label called OC Records. His wife, actress Chynna Ortaleza, serves as its vice president.
