November 10 weather: Bring an umbrella today

weather forecast Pagasa

Pilipinas, did you bring your umbrellas today?

State weather forecaster Pagasa said Metro Manila and most parts of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

What is the impact to NCR, Luzon?

There is a possibility of “flash floods or landslides” during severe thunderstorms, Pagasa said.

Weather in Visayas, Mindanao

Visayas, Mindanao, as well as these areas in Luzon – Palawan, Albay, Sorsogon and Masbate –  on the other hand will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

What is the impact to Visayas, Mindanao ?

“Possible flash floods or landslides” due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

The rains were brought by the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ICTZ), or the belt around the Earth near the equator where the trade winds of the north and south come together.

Batanes special mention

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will also be felt in Batanes, but this time the cause is the Shear Line.

What is a Shear Line?

A shear line is another weather system where northeasterly and easterly winds meet. An abrupt change in the horizontal component of the wind causes formation of  rain clouds.

Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains
