NO more balls to play for Fran Yu.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) has rejected the appeal of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila to lift the game 3 suspension of the school’s team captain Fran Yu, saying Letran did not present “new evidence” to lift the suspension.
In a statement Tuesday, the NCAA Management Committee ruled to deny the appeal of embattled Letran on the following grounds:
“a. There was no new evidence presented by CSJL as required by the NCAA rules to lift the suspension
b. CSJL did not contest the judgment call of the game officials.”
Following an incident with Blazer’s Mark Sangco in Game 2 of the Season 98 Finals, Yu was thrown a disqualifying foul and thus quashed from the game.
This NCAA decision marks the end of Yu’s collegiate career game.
Letran is vying for a three-peat triumph against the De La Salle College of St. Benilde’s Heavy Blazers, who, for the first time after 20 years, made it to the league’s finals.
The do-or-die game 3 will be on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.
