Marrying this year? Travelling? Closing deals? Check out the eclipse, retrograde dates

ARE you planning to tie the knot this year? How about closing business deals or making big investments? Buying gadgets or new equipment? Traveling?

Filipino astrologer, Resti Santiago, said there will be eclipses and retrogrades in 2023, whose timings are not especially favorable for major decisions in life.

“Eclipses are dark. The light either from the sun or the moon is blocked off,” Santiago told republicasia.

Retrogrades happen when a planet appears, when observed from Earth, to reverse direction. In astrology, retrogrades are often viewed as “weakness.”

Eclipses

There will be four eclipses expected this year:

April 21

May 6

October 15

October 29

Plus or minus 10 days around the eclipse days, it is recommended that people refrain from engaging in “major” life activity, he said.

If you can hold off a big-ticket investment or business, better.

It’s also not a good time to close deals, and that includes marriage or even entering into a romantic relationship.

“Ang pinaka-famous na nagpakasal noong eclipse ay si Prince Charles at Princess Diana,” he recalled.

Ironically, the now-King Charles III will be coronated on May 6, an eclipse date.

Another major consideration, if people can help it, would be undergoing medical procedures.

Retrogrades

The most famous retrograde is Mercury Retrograde. Mercury is the planet of communication. A lot of times in the past, tech glitches happen during Mercury Retrograde.

The last Mercury Retrograde just ended yesterday, January 18. It started December 29, 2022.

During the recent Mercury Retrograde, there were three airport breakdowns — the Philippines, United States and Canada.

Santiago also attributed the glitch of the SIM card registration to the Mercury Retrograde.

When are the next dates for Mercury Retrograde :

April 21-May 15

August 24-September 16

December 13, 2023- January 2, 2024

During Mercury Retrogrades, it may we wise to refrain from giving commitments or entering into romantic relationships.

Caveat

In every astrological forecast, people are cautioned against relying solely on astrology for all decisions in life.

“You don’t have to time everything based on astrology. But if you can, you have to time your most important activity,” Santiago said.

In determining what is a “major” activity, people should consider whether it would entail big spending, longer preparation, lot of effort, and the effect of the decision would be long-term.

For republicasia readers, Santiago has a gift for you — the Long-Term Planning Calendar for 2023.
