Starting next week, malls in Metro Manila will adjust their operating hours to 11 a.m. until 11 p.m.
The adjustment in mall hours which will commence on November 14 is in lieu with the expected heavier traffic due to Christmas season.
This morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority met with mall operators and other stakeholders to address the influx of traffic in major roads in lieu with holiday season.
To further mitigate traffic congestion, malls can only schedule mall-wide sales on weekends.
In October, the MMDA reported that the daily volume of vehicles in EDSA has already breached prepandemic level, with 410,000 vehicles plying the highway. The figure is 5,000 higher than the average number of vehicles in EDSA before the pandemic.
