SHE’s very much alive and still kicking.
After a statement on her verified Instagram account announced the death of the 14-year old rapper and influencer Lil Tay, the young star herself debunked the claim and said her Instagram account had been compromised.
In a statement that Tay’s family provided to entertainment site TMZ, the teen influencer reiterated that she, as well as her brother who was also claimed to be dead, are safe and alive.
“I want to make it clear that my brother and I are safe and alive, but I’m completely heartbroken, and struggling to even find the right words to say,” she stated. “It’s been a very traumatizing 24 hours. All day yesterday, I was bombarded with endless heartbreaking and tearful phone calls from loved ones all while trying to sort out this mess.”
Lil Tay clarified that her Instagram account was hacked by a third party and used it to disseminate “jarring misinformation” and rumors against her.
She also said her legal name is Tay Tian, not Claire Hope, as claimed by the Instagram post.
The statement regarding Lil Tay’s fake death was posted on her verified Instagram account on Wednesday. It announced the young rapper’s “sudden and tragic passing.” It also said the deaths are “under investigation”.
The post has now been deleted on the verified Instagram account.
