THE number of victims who were injured in a gas leak explosion in a laundry shop near De La Salle University on Monday night has risen to 20, the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said Tuesday.
The incident transpired around 7:10 in the evening.
Manila’s DRRMO confirmed to republicasia that from 15, the total number of injuries from the incident has climbed to 20.
The Bureau of Fire Protection has yet to release the official damage to casualties, including the names of victims from the incident.
In a Facebook post, The La Sallian said Psychological First Aid is being provided by the Office of Counseling and Career Services to students who have been affected by the explosion.
“In the spirit of Community, The Office Counseling and Career Services is offering Psychological First Aid for Lasallians affected by the explosion last night, January 30, at Fidel Reyes St,” the post read.
Initial reports said that the explosion started at 360 wash, a laundry shop located less than a kilometer from the university.
Upon learning of the incident, MDRRMO responded to the scene and treated injured victims with necessary first aid.
Some of the victims were brought to three different hospitals, including the Philippine General Hospital, Adventist Medical Center, and Ospital ng Maynila.
At the same time, some of the injured are being treated in the Enrique M. Razon Sports Center, according to The La Sallian.
