Filipino fans of P-pop boy band HORI7ON couldn’t be more proud of their idols, who just made their debut in a South Korean music program.
The septet entered the South Korean music scene with a performance of their new song “SIX7EEN” on Mnet’s M Countdown on Thursday. “SIX7EEN” is the lead single in their debut studio album, “Friendship,” which they released on Monday.
The song, which has a mix of English and Korean lyrics, gives a youthful vibe to listeners and tells them to live in the moment as if they are 16.
Joining “SIX7EEN” in the album are Meteor, Birthday, Mama, How You Feel, Death Or Paradise, Take My Hand, Tiger, Hit Me, Odd Eye, and the group’s pre-debut single Lovey Dovey.
The group’s debut performance uploaded on Mnet’s YouTube account has reached over 135,000 views, as of this posting.
HORI7ON flew to South Korea in May to prepare for their promotional activities in the country.
HORI7ON dominated Twitter trends on Thursday night as Filipino ANCHOR, the group’s fandom name, took to the platform to express their support for their idols.
One fan said that watching the group’s performance made them emotional.
“Happy boys, happy us. The cheers after their performance and the tears while watching them debut online,” the fan tweeted.
Another netizen praised the live vocals of the members, particularly their main vocalist Vinci, who “effortlessly” hit high notes while dancing to the song’s choreography.
“[O]ur main vocal #VINCI has done it again, but now on [a] global stage!!!” the netizen said.
Meanwhile, a Twitter user congratulated the group on their international debut.
“[T]he happiness on their faces says it all! congrats to our pride hori7on!” the Twitter user expressed.
HORI7ON is composed of seven members, namely Vinci, Jeromy, Marcus, Kyler, Reyster, Winston, and Kim.
The group was formed by South Korean entertainment agency MLD Entertainment and ABS-CBN through the survival reality show Dream Maker, where 62 aspiring P-pop idols competed for the top seven spots who would debut in South Korea. MLD Entertainment also handles the K-pop girl group Lapillus.
The septet has conducted several mall shows in the Philippines and held their first fan meeting at the New Frontier Theater in April. They also performed in the television shows It’s Showtime and ASAP Natin ‘To.
