Fair weather with some rain in parts of the country

HEADING out for a Satur-date? There’s a good chance that you will encounter fair weather today.

The state weather bureau said there will be generally fair weather in most parts of the country.

The northeast monsoon will bring colder weather and some light rains in most of Luzon, while the Visayas and Mindanao will enjoy fair weather conditions, save for localized thunderstorms in certain areas.

Wet Valentine’s in parts of the country

However, there is a possibility that a low pressure area will form southeast of Mindanao and bring rains as early as Sunday in Mindanao.

This is also expected to bring rains during Valentine’s Day in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.

Luzon weather

A large part of Luzon will have fair weather this Saturday, while there will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains in Aurora, Quezon, the Bicol region, Marinduque, and Oriental Mindoro.

Visayas and Mindanao

Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies. There will be light rains in Eastern Visayas and parts of Central Visayas. There is a low chance of rain in other parts of the island.

In Mindanao, the Caraga region, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental will experience some rain due to localized thunderstorms.

Northern Mindanao, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi may also experience localized thunderstorms. There is a low chance of rain in the rest of Mindanao this Saturday.

However, by Sunday, Eastern Mindanao could experience rains due to the trough of a low pressure area that may form off Mindanao.

Valentine’s Day forecast in key cities

Metro Manila will have fair weather in the next three days up to Valentine’s Day, but it will be warm and humid. The temperature could be as high as 32 °C, but the heat index, or the measure of how hot it really feels, could rise as high as 34°C to 35 °C. Those going out should stay hydrated, the weather bureau said.

Baguio City can also expect fair weather up to Valentine’s Day. There will be a low chance of rain and the temperature could be as low as 15°C.

Legazpi City will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies on Sunday and Monday. But by Tuesday, there will be cloudy skies and light to moderate rains.

Metro Cebu will have a sunny Sunday, while Monday will bring mostly cloudy skies with a high chance of rain in the afternoon. On the 14th, large parts of the Visayas will have scattered rain showers and thunderstorms that may bring floods or landslides.

The next three days will be rainy in Metro Davao, especially on Monday and Tuesday. This will be due to the trough of the low pressure area that is expected to form off Mindanao. Residents are warned to watch out for floods and landslides.

No sea travel suspensions

The eastern part of the country may have moderate to rough seas where waves could reach as high as three meters or a one-story structure.

But there is no gale warning, and the weather bureau has not advised vessels against heading out to sea.
