ALTHOUGH both have fallen short at the 2023 British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA), Filipina actress Dolly De Leon and English actress Florence Pugh stunned the crowd with their red carpet moment on early Monday morning (Philippine time).
The two actresses were spotted taking a photo together at the Royal Festival Hall, with De Leon and Pugh wearing their head-turning spotlight-stealer gowns that accentuated their feminine figures.

De Leon, who was nominated for best supporting actress at the award-giving body, was wearing a Rajo Laurel sculptural gown called Alon.
According to the top Filipino fashion designer, the actress’ gown was made of abaca or Manila hemp, a fabric material that is closely associated with the traditional Filipino culture and fashion style.
De Leon was adorned with a pearl tube top gown with a wave-like design on the waist down. She paired this illuminating ensemble with Steve Madden heels and several pieces of jewelry courtesy of Bulgari.

As he posted photos of De Leon wearing his creation, he also thanked the veteran film actress and thespian for inspiring many Filipinos due to the achievements she received from her career-turning performance in the Palme d’Or winner, satirical comedic film Triangle of Sadness.
“Thank you dearest Dolly for being an inspiration to all of us Filipinos. MABUHAY KA!!!” the designer added.

Dolly at the after-party
Despite not being able to take home the Philippines’ supposed BAFTA win, De Leon has undoubtedly enjoyed meeting fellow talents in the film industry because of her phenomenal performance during Triangle of Sadness.
In a red carpet interview, the award-winning actress said the best part of the award’s night is meeting new talented people.
“I think that’s been the best part of the awards season — it’s meeting people who really… are very talented and who have a platform to be able to show that talent,” said De Leon.
During BAFTA’s after-party, De Leon was seen hanging out with big names in the international film scene as documented by Swazi-English actor Richard Grant.
He shared a couple of selfies with other BAFTA nominees including De Leon.
